One of the last meals we had in Singapore was at Shinji, at my cousin's recommendation.
I thought that since it was the last nice meal, just whack a good one. In the end, I was the one who kenna whacked. Cost us S$300 each.
I wouldnt say it's worth every penny but it was very satisfying.
So when she came over with her son, she said she wanted to eat the best Jap food in Shanghai - Shinji standard.
Her main criteria is:
1. Good restaurants dont serve salmon and swordfish
2. The raw fish must drape down in a certain way.
3. The tamago's centre must be less cooked than the top and bottom because they will flip it over to cook.
There were some hits and misses but i thought i did well in searching and securing the reservations.
Before she left Shanghai, she instructed us to find more places.
So we came to Sushi Naratomo.
I took some pictures to show her:
Raw fish draping down -

Tamago's centre -

No salmon or swordfish -

Actually the plate above has some teeny piece of salmon but I dont think she saw it.
The place was actually quite nice.
Nice fresh oysters here:

Chef was quite friendly. Actually I was friendly too. I usually try to be friendly with the chefs to get some free pieces of sushi. Dont laugh. It's worked more often than not.

One of the dishes was this:

I was looking at the white thing at the bottom right that looks like some brain but it cant be fish brain cos it's so big??!? The chef asked me to eat first before he'd tell me.
Turned out to be the sperm of the cod fish. I wasnt as grossed out as I thought I'd be but it does taste quite.. milky.
